Guinea-Bissau coach dismisses concerns over pitch ahead of Super Eagles clash

Guinea-Bissau head coach, Emiliano Té, has dismissed concerns over the condition of the playing surface at the September 24 Stadium in Bissau ahead of Tuesday’s 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying clash with Nigeria.

The Djurtus are set to host the Super Eagles in a Matchday 2 encounter in Group L as both teams continue their campaign for a place at the 2027 AFCON.

Concerns had been raised about the state of the pitch following persistent rainfall in Bissau, with heavy downpours leaving some sections of the playing surface saturated ahead of the crucial fixture.

The Super Eagles trained at the stadium on Monday, allowing the Nigerian players to familiarise themselves with the condition of the pitch before the match.

Despite the concerns, Té played down the possible impact of the wet surface, insisting that his team would focus on the task of securing a positive result against Nigeria.

The encounter is expected to be a closely contested fixture as both sides look to strengthen their position in the qualifying group.
